What Do the Lights on Your Fiber Router Mean?

POWER, PON, LOS, LAN, Wi-Fi — what each light on your fiber router (ONT) means, what is normal, and when to call us.

Your fiber connection comes into the home through a small box called an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) — most people just call it “the router”. Its lights tell you exactly what is happening. Learn them once and you can solve most problems in a minute, or tell our team precisely what is wrong.

Quick rule: a red LOS light means the fiber signal is not reaching your home. Restarting will not fix it — message us with your user ID.

The lights, one by one

POWER

Steady green: the router has power. Off: check the adapter, the socket and the UPS if you use one.

PON

Steady: your router is registered on our fiber network — this is normal. Blinking: it is trying to register; give it two minutes after a restart. If it keeps blinking for longer, contact us.

LOS (Loss of Signal)

Off: normal — the fiber signal is fine. Red or blinking red: no light is arriving on the fiber. Usually the cable is bent, damaged or unplugged — or there is a fiber cut in the street. Check our live network status page first; if your area shows no issue, send us a WhatsApp.

LAN 1–4

These light up when a device is connected with a cable (PC, TV, second router). Blinking means data is moving. Off simply means nothing is plugged into that port.

WLAN / Wi-Fi (2.4G, 5G)

On or blinking: Wi-Fi is working. Off: Wi-Fi may be switched off — many routers have a small WLAN button on the side.

INTERNET

On some models this light shows that the internet session is connected. If PON is steady but INTERNET is off, your account may need renewing — see Pay Bill or message us.

Before you call: a 60-second check

  1. Look at LOS. Red? Message us — it is a line problem.
  2. Check the yellow/green fiber cable is not sharply bent, squeezed in a door or pulled tight.
  3. Restart once: switch off, wait 30 seconds, switch on, wait 2 minutes.
  4. Still slow? Test near the router with a cable or right next to it on Wi-Fi.
  5. Check our network status — if there is a known issue in your area, we are already on it.

Never bend, cut or pull the thin fiber cable — the glass inside can crack. Repairs need a technician with a fusion splicer.

Frequently asked questions

My LOS light is red — did I do something wrong?

Usually not. It most often means a fiber cut in the street or a damaged indoor cable. Send us your user ID on WhatsApp and our team will check from the network side.

Should I switch my router off at night?

There is no need. Fiber routers use about as much power as an LED bulb, and leaving them on lets them receive updates.

Can I move the router to another room?

Not by unplugging the fiber yourself. Ask us — we can extend the fiber properly, or add a second Wi-Fi router with a network cable.
